Increase agricultural yields by providing rural extension services such as tractors, implements and seeds to communal farmers in the crop producing regions, through the Namibia Mechanization Seed Improvement Programme (NAMSIP) Implementation Plan, over the HPPII period.

Sub Activity Description:

Agricultural Mechanization: Procure assorted crop and Livestock production to provide subsidized agricultural services to farmers. Agricultural Mechanization: Supply and install standard drip/sprinkler irrigation systems for crop & fodder production Certified Seed Improvement: Procure assorted machineries and equipment for production and processing of seed. Certified Seed Improvement: Supply and install three (3) drip/sprinkler irrigation systems for seed production each covering 60ha. Certified Seed Improvement: Construct five (5) full-house seed processing plant (building including installation of appropriate equipment) in five strategic regions. Certified Seed Improvement: Facilitate production of certified and foundation seed under dryland and/or irrigation and distribution thereof to farmers and/or seed growers.

Maintain the School Feeding Programme, improve nutritional value of meals and extend Programme to Secondary and IECD Centres, based on needs assessment, by the end of the HPPII period.

Sub Activity Description:

Develop and implement a pilot project on linking schools to smallholder producers (Home Grown School Feeding Programme) in line with recommendations of the feasibility study Promote and facilitate the establishment of school gardens Conduct feasibility study on expansion of school feeding to secondary schools (SS)and ECDs Develop a project to gradually phase in school feeding to SS and ECDs Source, process and transport maize blend (or other form of food) to secondary schools and ECDs Capacity Building / training of NSFP focal points, cooks and school management of food handling at the school level
